Obama’s Loan Modification Plan Not Designed for the Frivolous at Heart

Obama’s Loan Modification Plan Not Designed for the Frivolous at Heart

When the economy of the United States turned upside down so did the lives of millions of citizens. Jobs were lost, working hours decreased, and wages cut. This had a disastrous effect on many and is still having that effect although the economy is gradually turning around. During the worst times of the crisis, millions of people lost their homes to foreclosure and upon sight of this, Obama’s administration devised a plan to help individuals out of this tough situation.

There are a number of various components to the main loan modification plan including the fact that the monthly payment is not be above 31% of the family’s monthly income, the interest rate is lowered sometimes to as low as 2%, the payment plan term is lengthened, not to mention the cash incentives.

Although this plan can assist millions of families and Obama has put aside 75 billion dollars for this plan, there are some families who have been rejected even though they may have been at risk of losing the home. This has laid a critical eye on the plan. However, there are various reasons for this and one could be that the family was actually involved in frivolous spending for which the government does not provide assistance for. Another reason is that if a family does not provide adequate proof that they are in need and that they haven’t been involved in frivolous spending they may also be rejected.

Because so many people have not been careful with their incomes before the recession, the government has taken great strides to not reward this behavior. Unfortunately for the families who have not been able to prove otherwise, they have been rejected. For a family who is in dire circumstances and has been careful with their money, they can prevent this. The best piece of advice is to be prepared with any and all documents, have the figures of income and where is has spent completely prepared and consistent. It is only when this happens that you can be almost guaranteed for the help if in fact you meet the requirements.
