The Spiral Down: How We Got Here, The Up-Side: How to Help

May 22nd, 2009

The banking crisis is highlighted by homes around the US that are in foreclosure or that have already been foreclosed. The high percentage of job losses and cuts in salary greatly affected the homeowners’ abilities to make mortgage payments on already over mortgaged homes. The over mortgaged homes were based on property assessments that were continuing to accelerate. Many were given mortgages through banks, mortgage brokers and other financial persons who based the potential homeowner’s ability to afford the mortgage on a preliminary low interest loan that would accelerate at a high pace in five years. Mortgages were given easily and first houses prices continued to soar. Housing prices have gone from soaring to sour in the last two years. Homeowners are desperately asking for assistance as they receive foreclosure notices. Here is a quote that brings hope to many and calls professionals in the banking industry to join hands in helping homeowners.

Roie Raitses Vice President, (Loss Mitigation Division/Affiliate Operations) is quoted as saying – “Mortgage Brokers and Financial Professionals are welcome to join our affiliate program and start helping homeowners fight this battle!”

This is a timely cry offer to join hands. If Mortgage Brokers and Financial Professionals will join hands and assist homeowners through the use of affiliate programs than many more homes can be saved from foreclosure. The hope of the homeowner lies in the ability of numerous banking professionals to pool together programs and information that can help them determine if saving their home is feasible. Mitigations are a feasible option for many home owners. Mitigations are available through various plans that helps the banks reassess the income of the homeowner and look at the payments that are back due as well as the taxes. Through mitigation the mortgagee and the mortgager can meet together and determine if the home can be saved from foreclosure. A third party is often key in this process. This is an answer for many homeowners.

I’m finding out that there is a lot I didn’t know about foreclosure. It’s a sad thing that anyone has to look into this. There ought to be a better way than to take someones home. Sometimes the owner just can’t help getting into a bind. Glad to know you are so willing to help out.
