Are You Having Trouble Making Your Mortgage Payments?
Before you think about foreclosure, learn about the Making Home Affordable Program, which is part of President Obama’s Financial Stability Plan. You can get mortgage help in a number of places, so before you give up, make sure you look at programs the government has put in place to help stop foreclosure.
What is the Home Affordable Modification Program?
The United States government is finding new ways to help avoid foreclosure for millions of homeowners. The plan, called the Home Affordable Modification Program, allows for loan modification at a reduced interest rate, as low as 2%, in order to prevent foreclosure. $75 billion dollars have been set aside to help homeowners in need during these tough economic times.
How Do You Know If You Are Eligible?
The Obama Administration estimates that up to 9 million American homeowners will be eligible for loan modification. The Home Affordable Refinance Program could help up to 5 million homeowners with Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae loans refinance and reduce their monthly payments. The Home Affordable Modification Program will help up to 4 million Americans prevent foreclosure.
The best way to find out if you are eligible is to speak with a loan modification specialist familiar with FHA programs. In general, homeowners who have a hardship should be eligible for a loan modification on their current mortgage with interest rates as low as 2%. The house must be owner-occupied and be the owner’s primary residence, not an investment property.
How Can You Get Approved for the Reduced 2% Fixed Mortgage Rate?
Make sure you speak to a reputable loan modification consultant so check if you qualify for the program. If you think you might not be able to make a payment in the near future, or even if you have not been able to make your mortgage payments on time, there are still a number of loan modification options to choose from. Even borrowers in bankruptcy may still be considered for modification.

"When we refinanced our home, we didn't think that we would be facing the foreclosure process. But there we were - after 15 years in our home, going through a foreclosure because we couldn't afford to pay the mortgage. We refinanced to get money out to finish the basement, but then I lost my foot in a snowmobile accident. I was laid up for a while and the bills mounted. Then we found that the mortgage payments were actually going up! After 15 years in the same place, it can be really tough. But my wife called 1st Foreclosure Prevention and they helped us out. They gave us free advice on how we could stop foreclosure and what to do. We were able to save our home from foreclosure with their help."
"I couldn't sleep at night because I was so worried about my mortgage and what was going to happen to me and my kids. I had been working two jobs to try to keep up on the mortgage payments since my divorce and there just didn't seem to be an end in sight. Then I lost one of the jobs when the place closed down. A friend of mine told me I was better off to do what I could to stop foreclosure before it started, so I contacted this place that I found online, 1st Foreclosure Prevention, and they gave me so much foreclosure help! I couldn't believe that they could be so nice and caring. They took it all off my shoulders and I was finally able to sleep. They saved my home from foreclosure."
"We called 1st Foreclosure Prevention right away because a friend of ours who went through foreclosure in Florida told us about them. We knew that the sooner we acted to stop foreclosure, the better our chances. They gave us a lot of help and we were able to prevent foreclosure. Their loss mitigation specialists were great, too. They knew the laws in our state better than we did and they also had a lot of options for us that we never would have considered. Thanks to them, we are much better off. We're glad our friend recommended them and now we will do the same for others."
"We were in way over our heads with our property. We bought it high and when the market crashed, we were upside down with our mortgage. We were about to file for a bankruptcy when we found out about 1st Foreclosure Prevention online. We decided that at this point, we had nothing left to lose. We were already resigned that we were going to probably lose our home anyway and our credit would be shot. We are so happy that we called for a free foreclosure consultation from 1st Foreclosure Prevention and got the foreclosure help that we needed. We did not have to file bankruptcy and the loss mitigation experts were able to work out a deal with our bank. Now our credit is back to where it was before we bought the property - thanks to this company."
"I really thought that there was nothing you could do to stop foreclosure once it started. I was wrong. I found out that a borrower has plenty of rights and can get foreclos"
"I wanted out of my mortgage in the worst way - it was the worst investment that I could make. The roof leaked and there were tons of other issues. But I didn't want to go through the foreclosure process because I knew it would screw up my credit. So when I found out about 1st Foreclosure Prevention, I figured I would give it a try. I was struggling to make payments on a piece of property that I didn't want. I got a free foreclosure consultation from them and they told me different things that I could do to get out of it. They gave me great foreclosure help and even helped me get rid of the property. Now I have a great place and no foreclosure on my record. And working with them was easy, too. Thanks, guys!"
